Horacio’s Biography

Born in Caracas, Venezuela as the first son of a Portuguese supermarket businessman, Mr. Gomes’ real passion lay in the fields of advertising and marketing. After living a few years in Portugal, he began his advertising career at the young age of 17, as part of the creative team at ARS Publicidad in Caracas. He moved to the United States in 1980 and received his BA and Masters Degree in Advertising and Marketing from the University of San Francisco. In 1987, he founded the first Hispanic advertising agency in San Francisco, HeadQuarters Advertising. After numerous awards and recognition, Mr. Gomes became President of the Association of Hispanic Advertising Agencies (AHAA) in 2001.

Throughout his personal life he has always embraced art, antiques, gardening, food, wine and friends. These joys are now the foundation of Horatius. With the birth of his new business, Mr. Gomes’ passions have come full circle. Marketing meets Retail with a brand of his own: Horatius.
